MUSIC CLASSES
Music classes run 8 weeks. Tuition is 120.00 + 10 registration fee. If you are interested in a class, be sure to contact us to put your name on the class list. All music classes are on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Beginning Folk Guitar Age 7 - 9, Mondays, 5 - 6 pm. Class runs for 8 weeks and needs a minimum of
four students to start. Strumming, finger picking, basic chords to sing your favorite songs by. Learn to tune and properly care for your instrument. ANNE ROSE BERGSMA teaches voice and guitar at Gene Nastri School. She is a well-known performer and teacher in the Pacific Northwest, holding BA & MM degrees in voice from the UW. Ms. Bergsma has had extensive teaching experience with students of all ages, both in class and private studio settings. In addition to Gene Nastri School, she teaches voice at Northwest University and the Bellevue School of Music.

Fiddling is Fun! Age 10 and older. Learn how to fiddle with an introduction to Scottish fiddling techniques by Brian Crisafulli, one of the northwest's most in demand Scottish fiddlers. A familiarity with first position on the violin is required. Bring a recording device to class. Tuesdays, 4 - 5 pm, Class begins Nov. 3 and runs 8 weeks with time out for holidays.
Brian Crisafulli teaches classical and fiddle styles to children and adults. Brian is especially interested in the Scottish and Cape Breton styles of fiddling. He maintains an active performance schedule playing for a variety of Scottish and international music and dance groups in the Puget Sound area.

This class includes an introduction to the piano keyboard, some basic music theory and note reading along with visits by advanced students of woodwinds, strings, and brass instruments. Lots of singing, rhythmic activities and musical games. Mondays, 5:45 - 6:45 pm. Tuition: $120 + 10 materials fee & 10 registration fee. Eight week class needs a min. of 4 students to start. Max 8. Begins November 2.
Keyboard Kids Age 7-9. Bring your own keyboard and headset to class. Learn note-reading, beginning music theory, rhythmic patterns, and finger positions. An economical substitute for private piano lessons and a great way to prepare for any band or orchestra instrument. Mondays, 4:30 - 5:30 pm.
Min.4 /Max.6 Mondays, 4:30 - 5:30 pm. Begins November 2

Flute Ensemble Age 12 and older, min. 2 years playing experience. Mondays, 7 - 8 pm.
Explore new music arranged specifically for flute, meet other flute players, play in parts in ensemble. A great way to grow musically, improve your technique, learn new repertoire, and make new friends. Mondays, 7 - 8 pm, Tuition: $120 + 10 music fee & 10 registration fee. Eight week class needs a minimum of 4 students to start. Max. 8. Begins Nov. 2.

Kristi Wiant teaches flute & piano at GNS. Mrs. Wiant grew up in Seattle in a musical family. She began studying piano in the second grade, continuing through 8 quarters at the University of Washington, graduating with a BA in Music in 2006. At the UW, she studied flute with Felix Skowronik, and is continuing post-graduate flute studies with Klaus Liebetanz. Kristi works as a free-lance vocal accompanist and began teaching privately about 15 years ago. She is a member of the Seattle Flute Society and serves as a church pianist. In addition, Kristi Wiant serves as president of the GNS Board of Directors.
