Classes and require a minimum 5 enrollees with a maximum of 8, Camp requires a min. 8/max. 15 Pee Wee Picasso Age 4 – and older, 9:30 – 10:30 am, Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23, 30,class fee $60, materials fee, $15 Fun activities providing a foundation for artistic development in preschool children. Includes color, shape, collage, working with the tools of real artists, and other elements of art introduced through multiple media projects that children will enjoy making and taking home after each class. Basic principles and vocabulary will be incorporated in an age-appropriate manner.
Introduction to Drawing Age 7 - and older, 9:30-10:30 am, Thursdays, July 9, 16, 23, 30, class fee $60, materials fee $10 For children who love to draw! An opportunity to sharpen observation skills; to become familiar with line, form, and composition. Drawing in various media including pencil, colored pencil and charcoal. Students will choose their own subject for a still life drawing.
Art Basics, Level 1 Age 6 – and older, 9:30 – 10:30 am, Wednesdays, July 10, 17, 24, 31, class fee $60, materials fee $10. Explore treasures in nature, learn color mixing, basics of drawing, shape, line and composition. Using a variety of media, children will also learn selection and care of materials, tools and vocabulary of professional artists. Class lays the beginning of a foundation upon which students can build a life-long interest and understanding of art.
Meet the Masters of Music & Art
A one week camp for participants, Age 8 – and older,
9am – 12 pm, July 15-19, camp fee $150, materials fee $25
This unique camp is a combination of music and art exploration within history. Each week in art participants will learn about a famous artist from a specific historical period, and then create their own masterpiece based on that master's style, color choices and techniques. Participants will be introduced to variety of mediums including pastel pencils, acrylics, and colored pencils. In music, campers will learn songs from different periods with emphasis on breathing, tone, diction, and note-reading. Using the elements of song, students will compose their own piece. The last day will include an informal performance for family and friends along with an art show of the students work.

Shelly Hendrickson, Art
Shelly graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor in Fine Arts and Washington University in St Louis with a Masters in Fine Art. In addition, she studied at the Leo Marchutz School of Painting in Aix-en-Provence, France. Currently she is teaching drawing and painting at Everett Community College. Hendrickson is accomplished in a wide variety of media including: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, clay, and woodworking. She is an experienced teacher having taught at all levels from preschool through college. Believing art is central to the joy of living, she strives to build confidence in her students, teaching them how to creatively communicate what they visualize and by providing them with a strong foundation in the techniques and tools of art upon which they can build throughout their lives. |
